Harmonica Tabs

Free Harmonica Tabs

book_160_213Here are some free harmonica tabs for beginning, intermediate and advanced harmonica players.

Harmonica tabs are easier to follow if the audio can be heard while watching the tab. The free harmonica tabs below use this method, the audio is provided with online players.

How the harmonica tab works

First we explain the tab system. 4B means blow into into hole 4, 4D means draw on hole 4. A half bend is a single apostrophe, a full bend is a double apostrophe (assuming you can do bends!). So, the full bend on the 2 hole draw note is written as 2D”, the half bend is written 2D’.

More details about the tab are in this free harmonica lesson.

Now to apply this tab to a major scale on the harmonica. The tab is 4B 4D 5B 5D 6B 6D 7D 7B. The scale is simple enough (if not, it eventually will be!).

The advantage of this harmonica tab is that it displays on any browser, like standard text, and is easy to write. The disadvantage is that (like most tabs) there is no indication of the rhythm to be played. Nothing comes for free!
